This calculator uses the Widmark formula, which is the most widely used method for estimating blood alcohol concentration:

BAC = (A / (r × W)) - (M × t)

Where:

  • BAC: Blood alcohol concentration
  • A: Total alcohol consumed in grams
  • W: Body weight in kilograms
  • r: Distribution ratio (0.68 for men and 0.55 for women)
  • M: Metabolism rate (varies by individual)
  • t: Time since drinking began in hours

Note: This calculator assumes that alcohol consumption is evenly distributed across the drinking period. In reality, drinking patterns vary and may affect BAC differently.

Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) is the percentage of alcohol in your bloodstream. The legal driving limit in many places is 0.02% to 0.08%.

  • 0.02-0.04%: Slight mood changes and coordination
  • 0.05-0.07%: Impaired judgment and coordination
  • 0.08-0.10%: Legal intoxication (in many places)
  • 0.11-0.15%: Significant impairment of motor skills
  • 0.16-0.30%: Severe impairment, possible unconsciousness
  • Above 0.30%: Life-threatening
